From September 8 to 13
A tribute to the artist Gerhard Fröbel (1936-2017)
‘‘The murmur of colors’
This exhibition celebrates the memory and transatlantic work of Gerhard Fröbel,
whose life was a constant dialogue with 20th century painters,
Trained in Amsterdam and Munich by eminent professors, his significant encounters
with artists encouraged his aesthetic exploration.
A multi-talented artist, he exhibited at the Haus dre Kunst Museum in Munich, created stained glass windows in Ryad, and publshed his collage books EXLEX LEXEX.
He settled in Montreal in 1998.
He abandoned the large format oil paintings of his youth for watercolor. Drawing on his mastery of space and color, he took on the challenge of transforming this fluid technique onto canvases over a meter size.
Presented in Germany at the Voswinckrlshof Museum in 2014, his work is now receiving a vibrant tribute at Studio M Gallery in Montreal.
Nine years after his passing, ‘The Murmur of Colors’’ invite us to rediscover the visual poetry of a unique creator who pushed the boundaries of his art and find a vibrant echo between Europe and Quebec.
