Art Connex U Journal | November 2026
Where Art and Community Meet
Creating connections. Sharing opportunities. Celebrating creativity.
Editor's Note
As the year moves toward its final weeks, it's worth reflecting on what makes an artistic community thrive.
It's more than the artwork itself. It's the people who create, the spaces that welcome them, and the connections that bring artists and audiences together.
This month, we celebrate one such person who has helped make those connections possible: Madeleine Murphy of Studio M.
Around the Community
The past few months have brought a lively mix of exhibitions and creative activity to the Art Connex U Events calendar.
From the summer's vintage poster exhibition and Le Jazz s'affiche sur Milton to September's tribute to Gerhard Fröbel and October's exhibitions featuring Roxane Paradis, Caroline Bussières and Michel Desrosiers, our community continues to find new ways to share its creativity.
Looking ahead, November brings more opportunities to discover:
Resonances — Daniela Zekina and Peter Boyadjieff, November 3–8 at Studio M, with an opening reception November 5.
A Slice of Life — photography by Aleksandar Markovic, continuing at Galerie Georges Laoun Opticien through December 5.
Studio M's Christmas Market — featuring the work of Stephanie Kleschnitzki through December 7.

Madeleine Murphy
Artist | Founder and Owner of Studio M
Madeleine Murphy brings together two worlds: her own artistic practice and her passion for creating opportunities for other artists.
With a background in Fine Arts and Visual Arts from Laval University, Madeleine has spent much of her career involved in illustration, graphic design, cultural events and creative entrepreneurship.
Her artwork has been exhibited in Montreal since 2002. In April 2025, she opened Studio M, a rental gallery in the Milton-Parc neighbourhood, offering artists a welcoming space to exhibit their work and connect with the public.
Through Studio M, Madeleine has created more than a gallery. She has helped build a meeting place for artistic exchange, collaboration and community.
We are pleased to recognize Madeleine and the contribution she continues to make to Montreal's creative community.
